Foces del Pino in Aller: gorge and PR-AS 31 traverse
Foces del Pino is one of Aller's most distinctive landscapes. The key planning point is simple: walking into the gorge is not the same thing as completing the full official traverse to La Paraya.
Aller Turismo publishes Foces de El Pino - Foces de Ruayer as PR-AS 31. It starts in El Pino, crosses the protected Foces de El Pino gorge and continues through the mountains, Ruayer and Foces de Ruayer to La Paraya.
The official profile is therefore a long, medium-high difficulty traverse. If your aim is simply to experience the El Pino gorge and return, do not automatically treat the full-route figures as the distance and duration of that shorter visit.

Experience Foces de El Pino
From El Pino, the official itinerary passes through woods and meadows before entering the limestone gorge protected as a Natural Monument.
If you only want the gorge and then return, choose your turnaround point for the real conditions and your ability. We do not publish a fixed distance for that option because the official source consulted does not define it as a separate route.
Complete PR-AS 31
The traverse continues beyond the gorge towards Las Campas, Caniella, Ruayer, Foces de Ruayer and La Paraya.
This is a long mountain day with elevation and a different finish from the start. Solve the endpoint logistics before beginning.

A visit to the gorge does not have to become the full day-long traverse. Decide the scope before building the rest of the day.
